Semi Home Made - Quick Kulche Chole

First of all, I am sorry, I am posting a blog post here after a long time. But I was super busy in my work and other blog. But here I am with another quick recipe for you.
Today I am sharing my childhood favorite meal which I use to eat outside my school a lot. I am sure many of you will relate to it, who are in India. It is often prepared and served still outside many office buildings also, specially in Connaught place or Chandni Chowk. But as I am not living in Indian anymore so I try and make all those things here so that I can satisfy my cravings. Hope you like this idea and if you do decide to make it, please share with me.

Chitra Pal Quick Kulche Chole
Ingredients:-
  1. One can for Garbanzo Beans / Chole ( I used Goya one for 1lb 13 oz), you can use boil beans also.
  2. One onion chopped finely
  3. One tomato chopped without seeds
  4. 2-4green chilies copped finely (optional)
  5. 2 tbsp. of cilnatro / dhaniya leaves chopped finely
  6. 3 tbsp. of lemon juice
  7. Salt and Red chili powder to taste
  8. 1 tsp. of amchoor ;/ mango powder
  9. Frozen Haldiaram Kulche (Baked Paneer or Cilantro one)

Directions:-
  1. Wash beans/ chole under running water in a sifter and transfer in another bowl.
  2. Microwave them for around 10 minutes with little water, cover with a wet kitchen towel. It is just too make them little more soft and steam them.
  3. Till then make other ingredients ready and heat the frozen kulche in toaster or oven.
  4. When the chole are ready cool them for five minutes and strain all water.
  5. Now add all other ingredients as mentioned above and mix well.
  6. Serve them with hot kulche and pickle.
  7. Your quick and healthy lunch is ready. It is very easy for all those working people who want quick home cooked food without mush stress.

Masala Chane

Chitra Pal Masala Chane

Kala chana / Chickpeas are high lots of protein and nutrition in it. Try this for your kids, they will love it and you will be satisfied when kids will have their protein.

Ingredients

1. 2 cups of boiled Kale Chane

2. 1 tbsp of cumin / zeera seeds

3. Salt and Red chili powder to taste

4. 1 tsp of turmeric powder

5. 1 tsp of coriander powder

6. 1 tsp of cumin powder

7. 2 tsp of amchoor / mango powder

8. 3 tbsp of oil

Directions

1. Heat oil in non stick pan.

2. Add cumin seeds to splutter.

3. Now add Salt, red chili powder, coriander, turmeric and cumin powder and stir.

4. Add the kale chane and mix it well.

5. Cook for 5 minutes and now add amchoor powder

6. Toss them and cook for another 10 minutes.

7. Masala Chane is ready you can serve them with puri’s or paranthas and for kids just serve them in an individual bowls just garnish with lime juice and dhaniya leaves as salad.

Punjabi Chole (Chana Masala)

Yummy Punjabi breakfast...this one is dedicated to my family.
Chira Pal Chole Masala

Ingredients

For Tadka

1. 2 cups Chole/Chana/Garbanzo Beans (soaked overnight in salty warm water with two tea bags)
a. [adding Tea Bags will turn Chana Black from White in Color].
2. 2 tomatoes (chopped)
3. 1 cup Tomato Puree or Paste (you can buy any brand Tomato puree)
4. Puree the chopped Tomatoes and Tomato Puree/Paste in Chopper together
5. 3 nos. medium Onions (finely chopped in chopper)
6. 2 cloves minced Garlic (optional as per taste)
7. 1 tbsp. Ginger paste
8. 2 no. Green Chilies chopped
9. Salt to taste
10. ¼ tsp. Turmeric powder
11. 1 ½ tsp. Red Chili Powder
12. 1 tsp. Coriander powder
13. 4 tsp. Vegetable Oil / Extra Virgin Olive Oil
14. ¼ tsp. Garam Masala Powder (Can get this from any Indian Grocery store for 2 US$)
15. 3 tsp. of Chana Masala Powder (Can get this from any Indian Grocery store for 2 US$)
16. ¼ tsp. Cumin Seeds

For Garnishing


1. Coriander leave
2. 2 nos. small Onions and 1 Tomato chopped in Rings


Directions


1. Boil Chole/Chana along with tea bags in pressure cooker/Microwave till they become soft.
2. On Medium Low Heat, Heat the Pan first and put Oil in Pan.
3. When oil is ready (you can throw one cumin seed if it sizzles then oil is ready) add Cumin seeds.
4. When Cumin Seeds splutter add minced Garlic and Ginger Paste.
5. Add chopped Onions and add a pinch of Salt and fry till they turn brown (Adding salt while frying Onions makes it quicker to fry Onions)
6. Add coriander powder and fry for some time till it becomes light brown.
7. Add turmeric powder & chili powder and Salt to taste.
8. Add Garam Masala and Chana Masala and again fry for some time.
9. Add Pureed tomatoes and fry till the oil leaves from the sides.
10. Add chopped Green Chilies.
11. Take out the Tea Bags and Add Chole/Chana into the Pan without water and stir so that it gets mixed up well.
12. Add the same water which was left in pressure cooker while boiling Chole/Chana .
13. Cook the Chole/Chana with gravy for 8-12 min’s till gravy dries (but Chana or Masala should not burn).
14. Garnish with Coriander Leaves and ring Onions and Tomato.

Serve with Puris, Parathas, Chapatis or Rice.
